Our ethical project: the cascade effect

Our company Cabeco® takes its name from its ambition – “Cascading Benefits of Coffee”. At every stage of its life, a coffee bean has benefits for those who use it. To understand the cascade effect, let’s follow the life of a small coffee bean.
The coffee belt that surrounds the planet has been planted for centuries. This semi-natural agricultural ecosystem, cultivated by small farmers, supports 125 million families who produce 80% of the world’s coffee. The cascade begins with the germination of a seed, then a sapling that grows into a dominant vegetation covering hundreds of thousands of hectares.

The cascading benefits :

Coffee trees have ecological advantages. They capture CO₂, fix soil, protect biodiversity and enhance habitat.
Harvesting brings farming communities together. It provides them with infrastructure, activity, income, access to healthcare, education…
The bean leaves its country of origin and enters a financial system as soon as it is sold at a price that has been virtually fixed for decades…
Coffee beans are listed on the stock exchange, where they are traded according to the laws of the market. The value of coffee is multiplied by ever-increasing consumer demand. Traders, roasters, coffee manufacturers and distributors generate margins at every stage of the chain.
Our eco-friendly Expac® process opens up a new avenue for the benefits of coffee. Scientific tests demonstrate the incredible cosmetic activities (and more) of our upcycled specialties. Part of the profits are passed on to small farmers to ensure their survival and further protect the plant essential to our lives.

Making the most of coffee grounds considered “waste” – the act of upcycling – is an enhancement that enables Cabeco® to bring money back to the source, particularly small farmers.

Regenerative Cosmetics

A new business model is emerging, especially in cosmetics, an industry that is ahead of the game in managing ecological problems (e.g. depletion of a plant through overuse of its fruit), ethical issues (e.g. unbalanced North/South economic relations), social issues and environmental concerns (e.g. microplastics).

Regeneration means giving back to nature (and to humanity) what we have taken from it. For the company, this means reducing or even neutralizing negative impact on the environment, while at the same time making compensatory contributions.

We do exactly this :

We recover a waste product without emitting any waste or pollutants (CO2)).
We reinject money at the source so that the resource endures and its growers can make a better living from it.

Our action is validated by acting in accordance with the principles of RainForest Alliance Gold and as members of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation community.

Our raw materials make it possible to engage in strong, concrete ecological actions, while obviously being beneficial to the skin!
